Our Family

Our family is a very blended family. Jessica’s dad’s family spans across Spain and South America, while her mother was born and raised in California and comes from a Jewish family. Both of Gary’s parents are ethnically Chinese, but was born in Vietnam. Both Gary and Jessica are first generation American-born on at least one side of their families. Our families' cultures are very important to us and we love exploring new ways in which we can discover each other's traditions or make them our own.

Jessica has a younger sister who is married and has a toddler and a newborn, while Gary has a younger brother. Gary’s immediate family and extended lives in California, with the rest in Hong Kong. Our families are extremely important to us, and we both are close to our own and each other’s families.

With this blend of cultures, we certainly have a lot of traditions from celebrating Chinese New Year to Christmas, and experiencing Hanukkah and Passover through Jessica’s sister, to name a few. We see Jessica’s family at least once a week for a family meal or having dedicated Auntie and Uncle time. We are looking forward to integrating child’s background and culture into our families traditions and customs.

We also have a lot of friends who span across both Georgia and California that we consider them part of our 'chosen family'. Through our friendships, we admire the diverse thought, humor, care, and connection we have with our friends and their families.
