Our Home and Community
We live in a house we own just southeast of downtown Atlanta and truly embrace the diverse experience and culture of city life. Our home is situated in a small cul-de-sac with other families with young children. We knew our house was the one when we met the previous homeowners, who also became parents through the journey of adoption.
The East Atlanta Village neighborhood is celebrated for being a tight-knit diverse community with playgrounds, farmers markets, and local restaurants that we can walk to all of which attracted us to live in this part of town. In the heart of Atlanta, and minutes away, we are close to a variety of other parks like Grant Park, Zoo, and Jessica’s sister and her family.
We relocated from California to Atlanta after spending extended time in the city. Jessica grew up in the Atlanta area, but Gary never lived outside of California until the pandemic. We fell in love with the friendliness of the community, and sense of belonging from the surrounding neighbors. Living near Jessica's family, especially her nephew and niece, has always been an important aspect in her life. Jess desires to be part of her family's everyday versus occasionally lifestyle, as she grew up very far away from all of her extended family. Now, we can grow peaches and blueberries and share that experience with our families, or experience every dance recital and holiday together.
